Publications and Outreach Branch’s main purpose is to present the contents of the National Monuments Record and the ongoing investigations of the Royal Commission to the widest possible audience.
The Branch has three principle sections:
Graphics and Design is responsible for the published outputs of the Royal Commission, whether they be books, electronic products, research reports, posters, leaflets or postcards. Staff also design and produce exhibition materials.
Library and Reader Services staff deal with all enquiries from the public and staff; they also manage the library and search room. Individual officers have special knowledge in areas such as military archaeology and chapels which is made available to Royal Commission staff, and by consultation and presentations to outside organisations and the public.
Education. The Education Officer is responsible for presenting the Royal Commission’s work to the education sector through liaison with education advisors and teaching staff. She is also taking the lead in developing the education zone of the web site.
The Education Officer is also responsible for the implementation and development of the Royal Commission’s Welsh Language Policy.
The Head of Branch is responsible for the delivery of all the corporate performance indicators assigned to the branch. He also supplies other members of staff and the public with specialist advice on Roman and medieval castle archaeology, and archaeological theory and practice. The Head of Branch is the principal editor of Royal Commission publications.
